This cultural and music city that has always had an essential place in the florentin artistic life, its temple is today the Teatro Comunale and the Festival of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino that was created in 1933 by Vittorio Gui to become immediately one the greatest music festivals of the world.

The Teatro del Maggio, inaugurated in 2011 and heavily inspired by the architecture of the Oslo Opera House, has given the city a new musical momentum.
It has just unveiled its 2026 season and the 88th edition of its renowned Festival, featuring twelve operas ranging from Baroque to contemporary, including a world premiere: Romanzo criminale by N. Piovani.
The Festival will open with The Death of Klinghoffer by J. Adams, directed by Luca Guadagnino, tackling powerful political themes.
Music Director Daniele Gatti will lead two major symphonic cycles dedicated to Beethoven and Mendelssohn, with the participation of the Maggio Chorus.
Zubin Mehta will celebrate his 90th birthday in Florence with an exceptional concert on April 29.
